Progressive Die Stamping for an Galvanized Steel Electrical Box Manufacturer
A manufacturer of electrical components required fabrication of a galvanized steel box that would be cost competitive against lower quality boxes from overseas. At Arcade Metal Stamping we specialize in precision metal stampings that meet the high quality standards of the electrical and construction industries.
The UL approved electrical box was engineered with new latch lock corners that eliminated all welding. New tooling was designed and built in-house specifically for this detailed project. Progressive die stamping utilizing a 200 ton stamping press formed galvanized steel into the 4" x 4" box. Each box had a weight of 1.39 lb and had a thickness ranging from 0.063" - 0.070". An automatic screw driver was incorporated into the progressive die which eliminated having to drive screws into the box.
Our quality program utilized various inspection measures; this project received in-process dimensional and visual inspections as well as a functionality test to ensure the knockouts were formed properly. The 8-32 ground holes were verified with 8-32 screws.
This successful electrical box project met all customer and UL standards. This client receives 500,000 to 750,000 high quality American made boxes annually. To learn more about this project, please see the table below or contact us for additional information. -
Stamping of Stainless Steel Clamps for the Telecommunication Industry
Arcade Metal Stamping was contacted by a cable and antenna manufacturer to fabricate stainless steel clamps which would be used in a telecommunications application. Our advanced progressive die stamping capabilities enabled Arcade to manufacture these precision components to exact specifications.
The clamps were engineered to meet the standards required by the customer-supplied 3D CAD drawing. As shown in the image, the clamp on the left was composed of 0.035" thick, ¼ hard 300 series stainless steel and the clamp on the right was composed of 0.120" thick 304 annealed stainless steel.
In-house tooling capabilities proved invaluable in designing and building the dies for this project. Formed utilizing our precision 200 and 150 ton progressive die stamping presses; the clamps had final weights of 0.434 lbs and 2.170 lb each. Additional machining was required to enable a clamp to accept a threaded screw. Threads were completed on a three headed tapping machine.
Various quality measures were implemented on this project: in-process dimensional and visual inspections; inspection of holes with go/no go pins; inspection of threads; verification of the fit of clamp to cable; and ensuring the depth of stamps.
The clamps were packaged into specialized boxes producing a two-piece kit, with instructions, that was ready for resale. To learn more about this progressive die stamping project, please refer to the table below or contact us today. -
Progressive Die Stamping of a Steel Back Plate for the Consumer Products Industry
Arcade Metal Stamping specializes in manufacturing precision metal stamping components for a wide range of applications across a variety of industries.
A long-time client recently came to us for the reengineering of a steel back plate that is used in a tankless water heater application. By redesigning this component considerable cost was saved by eliminating welding and stamping processes.
The back plates were stamped from 0.048" thick galvannealed steel on precision 200 and 45 ton stamping presses. Existing tooling was redesigned to form a back plate with new toggle locks which eliminated a welding process. Redesigning hole configurations also eliminated additional stampings. We currently manufacture over 60,000 of these 0.930 lb. components annually.
Our quality program utilizes in process dimensional and visual inspections, verification of holes with go/no go pins, and confirmation of toggle lock pull out force.

Progressive & Compound Die Stamping of Galvannealed Steel for the Waste Collection Industry
Aware of Arcade's expertise in progressive and compound tooling, a client in the waste collection industry contacted us to re-tool parts of their solar powered rubbish compacting bins. Re-tooling these large sheet metal parts resulted in a considerable cost savings over previously manufactured parts.
The 18 parts were engineered and fabricated utilizing our progressive die and compound die stamping capabilities. Constructed from galvannealed steel, the parts were produced in a number of shapes and sizes ranging from 0.075" by 3.00" wide, with plastic coating, to 25" by 27" wide. Parts had thicknesses of 0.035", 0.048", 0.060", 0.075", and 0.105" and weights ranging from 0.500 to 15 lbs. They were formed with a combination of progressive and compound die stamping on precision 45 ton, 150 ton and 200 ton presses. Additional secondary services included zinc plating, painting, plastic dip coating, tapping, and light assembly.
In-process dimensional and visual inspections ensured specifications were met. Machined holes, tapped holes, heights, and widths were verified for accuracy.
Additional details on this hard tooling and stamping project can be found in the table below. To learn more, please feel free to contact us. -
Progressive Die Stamping of a Stainless Steel Terminal Tab for a Motion Control/Switch Manufacturer
Arcade has been partnering with a client in the motion control/switch industry for over 15 years in the manufacture of stainless steel terminal tabs. These tabs were originally produced in-house but the client transferred this capability to Arcade along with the existing tooling.
Over a three month period the customer moved over 50 individual tools to our facility and we were up and running almost immediately. Our expert progressive die stamping capabilities produce terminal tabs from 302 stainless steel with ¼ hardness on our precision 30 ton high speed Minister press. The parts have dimensions of 0.60" long, 0.35" wide, and an estimated part weight of 0.002 lb.
Parts are verified to meet standards with quality measures that include dimensional, visual, and gauge inspections. In addition to stainless steel, we also produce stampings from cold rolled steel, hot rolled steel, aluminum, brass, copper, Kovar, silver, galvanized and galvannealed steel.
Arcade produces approximately 10,000 stainless steel terminal tabs annually for this client. To learn more about this project, please see the table below or contact us today.
